Instagrammer – Jess Dales part1 Ep36

Jess Dales doesn’t call herself an Instagrammer, that is a lame name I gave her. She would say travel blogger or visual storyteller and those both would be very true and she is very good at both of those things. But the primary way that Jess gets her visuals and stories out into the world is Instagram and it always has been. I wanted to understand how this all worked. How she built up a following of over 300,000 people. How she has found ways to get paid. What things about all this have been hard. What are the choices she has made. And how exactly do you get paid to go to Slovenia by posting pictures on a free app that most people scroll through on their phones. Turns out Jess is awesome and was willing to share about how all this happened and how it all works.

Travel Writer – Fran Golden Ep30

Sometimes you go on a journey to get a career you want and sometimes that career finds you. In a lot of ways travel writing found Fran Golden and it sure seems like she has been enjoying the journey. When the journey is getting paid to cruise around the world and write about it I guess it makes sense that she’d try and find things to enjoy. That said I was amazed in talking to Fran how much she works to churn out stories. The hustle is real! If you ever thought travel writing looked like a great job this is an episode for you.

This episode brought to you by Toad & Co makers of travel clothes tough enough for the trail but stylish enough for the tavern.

Also brought to you by Rocky Mounts who offer outdoor enthusiasts and professional athletes a higher quality and more colorful product to transport gear to their next legendary ride or backcountry adventure.

Pro Runner – Anna Frost part 2 Ep 19

Pro runner Anna Frost is back for part 2. We talk running, lessons learned, travel, Hardrock 100, nonsense and she threatens to hit me. The interview went really well!

Frosty is a very impressive woman who has accomplished a ton in the running world but has also embraced the being a woman runner and role model in some really powerful ways. Everything from writing a children’s book called Frosty’s Footsteps (which I bought and she will sigh), to creating a web forum for women to ask each other questions about subject that can be tricky to answer to just in general embracing being open about lessons learned and struggles fought.

Anna is also now leading trips and camps and they look really awesome. Check those out at www.trailrunadventures.com
