Pro Runner – Clare Gallagher Ep16

In my third interview exploring the career of pro ultra running I was fortunate enough to talk to Clare Gallagher. She is new, she is excited, she is funny and she one fast runner. Clare is someone just starting her career as a runner, trying to figure out how to position herself, what’s important to her and how in the world do you make enough money to cover rent, much less save for a rainy day. Clare’s biggest feat so far is placing as the first overall woman at the Leadville 100 mile run in 2016. Since then she has signed as an athlete with The North Face as her primary sponsor as well picking up support from a number of other sponsors. We talk how all of this came about, what’s her hopes for the future and really how do you pay the bills sometimes?

Pro Runner – Sage Canaday part 1 Ep13

Sage Canaday is a hard man to keep up with. That is most true if you are running, especially in the mountains. It’s also true that trying to keep up with all the ways he is hustling to carve out a career in running is hard. He has sponsors, a YouTube channel with tips and training videos,  a podcast, a coaching business and of course he’s on social media. Oh right and he runs and races…very very fast.

We talk about why he transitioned from road runner to ultra runner and some of the different things he’s done to make running a career, and spoiler alert some of them were not fun! But Sage is someone who has long been passionate and enthralled with running and worked very hard to make a career happen. I think he shares a lot of helpful information for anyone trying to make it in athletic endeavors as well as people just trying any kind of niche enthapeneur career come to life.
